Our Favorite Everyday Sushi in SHIBUYA
For all the Japan visitors, sushi has to be on their must-eat list. But you're not sure which one to go to?
In this blog, I will introduce you a Kaitenzushi restaurant - Katsu Midori Sushi.(pronouced midori 'z'ushi). We go there like every other week, so you might see us when you go!

・WHY WE LOVE IT
It's simple - because Katsu Midori Sushi offers the best value and taste in Shibuya. It might sound funny but sushi is one of the reasons I'm in Japan for. I mean, for a foodie like me, it's only natural, right?
In Shibuya, small kaitenzushi place can be found every blocks. (I barely see locals going in there.) So, when I moved to Shibuya, I did research and tried many restaurants with good reviews for its value. To be honest, most of them were not cleaned well and food was alright, but Midori Sushi was different. Their 'neta' (seafood goes on top of rice) is fresh and very consistent in taste. Seafood is brought fresh every morning straight from Tsukiji, GradeA rice from Yamagata is chosen to embrace fish...Divine! Price range from ¥100 - ¥500 a plate!
・HOW TO GET THERE
It's in side of Shibuya Seibu Department Store.
1. Get off at Shibuya Station JR, get out at Hachiko exit. Cross 'Shibuya Crossing' towards to TSUTAYA, and keep going straight on the right side of TSUTAYA. You will see Shibuya Seibu Department on the right and turn left and going into the building. Go up to 8th floor.
2. Get off at Shibuya Station Subway line and get out at the exit 6-2. When you're outside, turn left and keep going straight and Shibuya Seibu Department Store will be on the right. Turn left and going into the building. Go up to 8th floor.
・TIPS
AVOID BUSY HOURS It's a very popular place, so be ready to wait in line. I always try to avoid busy time like 11am-2pm and 6pm-8pm. Less busy time, you probably wait only 5-10 minutes.
ORDER FRESH Conveyor-belt sushi has food going around and around but don't you get worried how long they have been out? Most of kaitenzuhi these days use self-order system on iPad at the table. Almost every menu has a picture and English translation.
TAKE AN ADVENTURE WITH SEASONAL MENU Katsu Midori Sushi constantly changes the menu based on seasonal seafood. You may not know the name of the fish but it may surprise you!
TRY DIFFERENT LOCATION There's actually one more Midori Sushi in Shibuya in Markcity. Depending on where you're at, you can choose which one to go to.
I hope you'll have a great time there.
